Since I wrote about the American election, I thought it would be a good idea to write a little about their current president, Barack Obama. Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He’s graduated from both Columbia University and Harvard Law School.

Between 1992 and 2004 he also taught city rights at University of Chicago Law School.

Then, 2005 he became federal senator in Illinois, before that he had been state senator

of parts of Chicago since 1996.

He’s got married to his wife, Michelle Obama (born Robinson) in October 1992 and their two children Maila and Sacha was born 1998 and 2001.

February 10, 2007, Obama announced that he was running for president, he did it outside the Old State Capitol-building in Springfield, Illinois, which is the same place that Abraham Lincoln preformed his famous House Divided speech 1858. During his campaign he said that the most important things to him was to quickly end the Iraq war, reduce USA’s dependence on foreign energy and to make sure U.S. has general medical care.

First he competed with Hillary Clinton, who also wanted to be candidate for the democrats. But after a while she gave up and started to support Obama. So his only competition became John McCain, the republicans candidate.

November 4, 2008, Barack Obama won the president election with 365 of the 537 elector votes.

January 20, 2009, he begun his work a president, with Joe Biden as his vice president.

He is now USAs 44th president and first black president.

I think he seems like a nice guy and I haven’t really heard any bad things about him.

Stay happy (:
